Economic Development

Entrepreneurship:

The city of Petersburg encourages the dreamers and thinkers in our community to become our movers and shakers. The City and the Pike County Economic Growth and Development Council can assist you in making your dream into a local business. Many of the same tools available for industry attraction also pertain to new start up businesses.

The city has some limited space available for start-up businesses at reduced rent rates, as a business incubator. Though the space rents quickly when available, it provides a short term solution to help a new office centered business get on its feet. Many times the Petersburg / Pike County Revolving Loan Fund Program is a great way to finance up to 30% of new business costs at a reduced interest rate.

A grass roots program to support local entrepreneurs has started in 2009, called Indiana Hometown Competitiveness. Petersburg and Pike County are one of only 9 counties in Indiana selected to participate in this new program. This may be just the catalyst you need to get started with making your dream a reality. For more information you may contact any of the key contacts listed here.
