The Petersburg Police Department is proud to protect and serve our community. The department is administered by Chief of Police, Joe Hill, and consists of 5 full time officers providing service and protection 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.



The Police Department is located at the Pike County Security Center at 100 S. 4th Street in Petersburg. For routine business, the department can be reached at 812-354-8716. For emergencies please utilize our enhanced 911 system.



Services Offered:



Routine Services: Hand Gun Permits, Extra Patrol, Car Seat Inspections, Vehicle Title Checks, Emergency Transportation.

House Checks - Going on vacation? Wintering in Florida? Allow the city police to perform routine checks on your home and log their visits on card that will be mailed to you so you can see when our officers personally checked on your home’s security.

Senior Safe – Have an elderly relative in the city, give their name and information to our department and they will do periodic checks on your loved one.

D.A.R.E. – Drug Abuse Resistance Education – This nationally know education program is offered annually to the students at Petersburg Elementary School by the Petersburg Police Department. Corporal Jeff Boger is our certified instructor.
